My most recent painting. It's huge - 18x24 inches and it took a while to paint it, that's why I haven't been posting anything new for quite some time.

Etsy research

When I see that sales slow down a bit I have a peek at what some successful etsy sellers are doing to increase their sales. Craftcount is an unoficial etsy shop sales tracker. You can see the best selling shops by category by country and overall best performing shops. Of course I would be the one to browse through the best selling shops in Art category!

Painting on mdf board

I have been looking for smooth and texture-less support for my paintings for quite some time now. Canvas is a real paint to paint on even after several layers of gesso. Card is not too bad, but it curls when wet, so even though it was much easier to get all the detail right, it still was not very pleasant and comfortable to work on. So I've tried painting on mdf boards and it was fantastic!!! Really great for detailed work! The next thing to try - is painting on wood, which I believe would be even nicer!

Yoshi was my first attempt. It is an ACEO (2.5 x 3.5 inches). Yoshi means "good" or "repsectable" in Japanese.

Next, I painted Emily and Constantine. Also an ACEO. Emily is a cute Victorian slightly gothic type of girl. Constantine is her pet weasel (what a serious name for a little weasel:))

Emergency crafting

I knew this would happen... Orders kept coming in and I ran out of boxes for my pendants so I had to "invent" something nice to put them into. Since I didn't want to root out my sewing machine from under the stairs I thought I might as well use my fancy Crop-a-dile tool and all the leather pieces bought ages ago with no fixed idea in mind. I'm quite happy with the way they turned out and all my pendant buyers are going to get their orders in these cute little drawstring pouches. That's until I receive my boxes which I think is going to be next week (fingers crossed!)

Glass tile pendants

I guess I should have long ago written about glass tile pendants that I have been making for the last month or so. They are absolutely beautiful and such a fun thing to make! I used this tutorial for making them and I ordered my glass tiles, bails and necklace cords from Etsy.

I normally make some 10-12 of them at a time, yet I would only end up with 4 or 5 of the lot:) There would always be some little thing to make me think it's not good enough, like some tiny bubble of air that appeared out of nowhere. But the good thing about it is that I just put those wasted pendants in hot water and eventually I can peel the picture off it - and the glass is as good as new ready to be used for more pendants!

These pendants are very eye-catching! I was wearing my Irish pixie pendant the other day and got lots of complements about it!

These pendants are also great sellers! I'm almost out of my boxes supplies for them and I have to think of some alternative before I sell more!
